The World's Fastest Indian

This show portrays how Burt Munro fulfilled his dream of racing his self-modified Indian Scout motorcycle at close to 70 years old. He went on setting three world records. One of which still stands today.

It always starts with a dream. Burt Munro was crazy over speeds and he honed his knowledge and skill over 20 years. He also tried to save up over the years so that he could go US to prove to the world that his motorcycle was the fastest. Then it was consistent hard work, nothing less. Day in day out he would fiddle with his motorcycle, trying means and ways to make it go faster.

I like the way he approached the design of his motorcycle. When asked why he used a wine cork for the opening of a tank, he said weight was everything. When asked why his motorcycle did not have parachute, he said he did not plan on stopping or slowing down. It is back to basics and his answers make total sense.

He approached life simply. Urinating on the lemon tree so that "there is no wastage and that's the best fertilizer". When asked to mow his lawn, he set fire on it. Breakfast was made from eggs from chicken that he reared. In stark contrast, although he led a simple life, he was all for taking risks in life. When he was diagnosed with the illness, it made him even more determined to fulfill his dream within the shortest time.

I am beginning to realize that life should be kept simple. Don't need to care about what other people think. Don't need to read so many sources of news. Maybe it is really about slowing down, zooming in on what one loves. People like me who haven't found our love, should keep trying out things till we found one. So that we can make life worth living. All else doesn't really matter.
