Goodbye Granny
This reality show takes a look at the less privileged in our society and delivers to them a bundle of joy. In this episode, they threw a birthday banquet for a 100-year-old granny who only wish was to receive a big ang bao (red packet containing money, a gift in Chinese tradition). The granny lived alone. She had lost contact with her child for some reason. She was beaming from ear to ear during the banquet. I thought she was in the pink of health for her age. She was clear-headed and could speak clearly. She could even recognized the artistes and she replied promptly when asked questions. I was devastated when I saw the message printed across the TV screen that she died 2 days after the celebrations. My mum said she had fulfilled her final wish and left.
How many of us can live till 100 years old for someone else to fulfill our wish? A good reminder that life is short...really short. I thought the crew did great by bringing joy and laughter into the final few days of her life and the many other less privileged in the neighborhood.
